Florida recognizes asynchronous telehealth, but asynchronous does not mean automatic. The clinician must personally review the patient’s submitted information and decide whether it is sufficient to evaluate the patient, identify safety concerns, decide whether treatment is appropriate, and establish or authorize the patient-specific plan. Insufficient information should be escalated to a synchronous or in-person visit.
Asynchronous evaluation means the clinician reviews the patient’s submitted medical information later; the patient and clinician don’t have to be live on video or phone at the same time. It is a timing convenience, not an approval shortcut.
The workflow can be asynchronous. The medical decision cannot be automatic.
