AHCA says a licensed Health Care Clinic may not operate without the day-to-day supervision of a single Medical / Clinic Director. What that means — and does not mean.
Clinical governance reviewed by Armando A Falcon, MD (FL ME 84789) · Florida regulatory framework reviewed August 2026.
AHCA states that a licensed Health Care Clinic may not operate without the day-to-day supervision of a single Medical or Clinic Director. Survey materials also call for logs, charts, or notes demonstrating that oversight. It does not mean a physician sitting in the clinic every business hour — it means an active, functioning director relationship that can be shown.
Day-to-day does not require the physician to be physically present during every hour the clinic is open.
The clinic should be able to demonstrate an active, functioning director relationship — evidence that the director is actually performing the responsibilities — rather than a nominal, name-only appointment.
