My Florida Medical Director provides physician-led Medical Director and governance services for qualifying brick-and-mortar med spas, wellness clinics, and healthcare businesses throughout Tampa Bay, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater. Oversight is designed around each clinic’s actual services, personnel, protocols, and escalation needs. Acceptance and physician availability are confirmed individually.
Tampa Bay is really several distinct markets — Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater — separated by water and spread across three counties, with fast-growing communities like Wesley Chapel and Riverview between them. Some owners run more than one location across the bay. Our job is to keep a single, consistent governance standard while making sure each site’s protocols, delegation, and documentation stay specific to what that location actually does.
When an owner runs two or three locations across Tampa Bay, the temptation is to copy one location’s protocols to the others. That is exactly where governance breaks down. Two sites under the same brand — and even the same owner — rarely have the same services, the same staff licenses, or the same equipment, and standing orders and delegation have to be written to what each site actually does. A single physician can absolutely maintain one consistent standard across several locations. What that requires is a per-site assessment, standing orders matched to each site’s real service menu and staff, documentation kept location-specific, and an escalation pathway that works whether the physician is on site or reachable remotely. The alternative — one generic protocol binder shared across the bay — looks efficient until an inspector or a plaintiff’s attorney asks who was authorized to perform a specific treatment at a specific address on a specific day. We build the standard once and keep each location’s governance specific, so consistency never becomes a liability.
Florida Health Care Clinics under F.S. §400.9935 must have a Medical Director; med spas and other direct-pay practices that deliver medical services need a supervising physician accountable for clinical protocols.
Physician-authored treatment protocols and delegation orders for each service line, reviewed and kept current — the authority under which staff perform delegated procedures.
A qualified practitioner (MD/DO, APRN, or PA) must evaluate and clear each patient before treatment; an RN or medical assistant cannot perform the Good-Faith Exam.
Each treatment must be performed by the license Florida authorizes for it, under the physician’s order and the level of supervision the service requires.
